These beaches are ideal for family outings, with trees and tamarisk providing ample shade. The waters are shallow, calm, and suitable for the whole family, while the seabed offers a rich variety of shells and is perfect for underwater exploration or spearfishing. Continuing further, you reach another beautiful beach with similar features, Pera Katsouli or Kali Kyra, named after the nearby rocky islet.
Elia, Paliopythara, Richo Fiki, and Mnimata Beaches
Traveling south along the road, you will encounter a series of narrow, expansive beaches that seem to disappear into the endless blue, with the sea visible parallel to the road. These beaches have been given names by the locals, such as Elia, Paliopythara, and Kalyvi Saravanou. They feature fine sand and tamarisk trees, providing ample shade and a unique atmosphere for relaxation.
Heading further south, you come across two well-known north-facing beaches: Richo Fiki and Mnimata, which are divided into two separate beaches with a combined length of approximately 500 meters. Despite its ominous name, Mnimata Beach with its northern orientation, is an ideal swimming destination as it is protected from the southern winds. The name "Mnimata" (meaning "graves" in Greek) originates from the Roman era when the area was used for quarrying porous stone, a material used in tomb construction.
The beach consists of small sections of sand and pebbles, with its waters displaying an impressive turquoise color. The shallow and calm edges make it perfect for the whole family to enjoy a swim.
Exploring the Exotic Beaches of Agia Paraskevi and Paximada Peninsula
Heading towards the southwestern tip of the Bay of Karystos, you pass through low rocky slopes with wild beauty on the so-called Paximada Peninsula. Along the way, you will discover enchanting sandy beaches with waters that stretch out in shades of turquoise and blue.
One of the top swimming destinations in the Karystia area is the beaches of Agia Paraskevi, known for their unique turquoise waters. They are just a few kilometers from Karystos, heading towards Paximada. Agia Paraskevi consists of eight distinct beaches, each with southern, eastern, and northern orientations. They occupy a scenic bay, offering protection from waves and creating an idyllic atmosphere for visitors.
In the same area, there is also the beautiful church of Agia Paraskevi situated on an elevated spot. The region is mostly uninhabited and features paved roads leading to several beautiful and nearly deserted beaches. On the rocky islet of Paximada, the National Observatory of Athens often records high wind gusts, with the area frequently experiencing extreme wind speeds reaching up to 150 kilometers per hour.
To reach the beaches of Agia Paraskevi, follow the coastal road west from Karystos. About 7.5 kilometers from the city center, the road ascends a hill overlooking the coasts, revealing a stunning view. You will then see a series of small coves with sheltered beaches known as the beaches of Agia Paraskevi. All the beaches in the area have calm waters since they are hidden in a picturesque bay, protected from the winds, offering rare tranquility and isolation.
What makes the area even more unique is the well-maintained and intricate road network, with no parallel residences. This is due to the fact that the area belongs to OSMAS (Building Cooperative of Permanent Officers of the Greek Army), which maintains the road network according to its urban plan.

This uniqueness allows visitors to choose the side of the beach that best suits their preferences and the weather conditions.
For those seeking even greater privacy and tranquility, hidden beaches Penelope and Kalamitsi, located west of the cape, offer an unspoiled landscape for absolute relaxation and isolation.

Its seabed mainly consists of coarse pebbles and is ideal for snorkeling and diving.
Continuing along the route to the southernmost tip of the eastern coastline of Karystos, you'll arrive at Kavos or Alykes Beach, one of the most popular beaches in the area. Spread before us is a wide strip of sand, 450 meters long, perfect for swimming and relaxation.
The beauty of the calm waters and the services of the beach bar make it one of the most sought-after beaches in the area. Many visitors prefer to stay in nearby rental accommodations and hotels for direct access to the stunning beaches of the area.

This beach is a small gem with a length of about 150 meters, with its sandy shore and calm shallow waters ideal for family getaways. After walking a few steps into the water, you'll discover a beautiful seabed with peculiar rocks, perfect for endless explorations with a mask or even amateur fishing.

The beaches of Mpouros, located 10 kilometers from the city, are one of the most popular destinations in the area. The first encountered is the Large Beach of Mpouros, a wide beach about 400 meters long, with beautiful sand and tranquility that make it ideal for relaxation.
The next beach, considered the central beach of Mpouros, is also known as Agalma, from the impressive Centaur Statue adorning its edge. The white color of the sand has inspired the name "White Coast" or "Beautiful Coast," as the ancient Greeks called it. The length of the beach is about 150 meters, with golden-white sand and shallow, calm waters suitable for the whole family, while its western direction offers idyllic sunsets.
At the beach, you can find a variety of tourist businesses offering services to make your visit even more enjoyable. From beach bars serving refreshing cocktails to sun loungers and umbrellas for comfortable relaxation under the sun, to taverns offering traditional flavors of the region.
Moreover, there are available rental accommodations right on the sea, offering a unique staying experience with the sound of the waves becoming your daily companion.
The last stop for exploring beaches at the southernmost point of Karystos and the whole of Evia island are the hidden beaches of Avlakia. Starting from the position of Mpouros, towards the east of the bay of Karystos, and extending eastwards to Cape Mandelo with the lighthouse, these beaches are distinguished by their unique natural beauty.
The collision of the land with the sea creates 5-6 coves that are relatively close to each other, creating small beaches with impressive shapes. The limestone rocks create interesting formations, such as stone platforms that seem to float on the water, as well as unique recesses, creating a spectacular landscape.
Apart from the beauty of the small beach and the impressive scenery from the rocks, the area offers ultimate isolation, as it is minimally visited and maintains a sense of peace and tranquility.

The first, approximately 200 meters in length, is quieter for more privacy, while the central beach of the settlement, 230 meters in length, includes sections with sand, pebbles, and small rocks.
The settlement developed on the hills around a small bay, which provides all the advantages of a well-protected harbor, with an eastern opening towards the Aegean. The area has significant historical and archaeological interest. In antiquity, this natural harbor, called Gerastos, played an important role in controlling maritime routes in the straits and was used as the main port in campaigns of powerful fleets during various historical periods.
Today, the harbor serves as a destination for luxury yachts, sailboats, and small boats seeking shelter in the hospitable bay.
